Terms of Service
CrossCheck AI — A Platilus Product
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using platilus.com and the CrossCheck AI service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Platilus LLC.
2. Service Description
CrossCheck AI is an AI verification tool that uses the Adversarial Scenarios Method (ASM) to cross-check AI-generated content across multiple language models. The Service provides trust scores and identifies areas of agreement and disagreement between models.
Important: The Service is an informational tool. Verification results are NOT a substitute for professional judgment, expert review, legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, or independent verification. You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on the Service's output.
AI Transparency Disclosure (EU AI Act): CrossCheck AI uses third-party artificial intelligence models to generate verification results. All outputs — including trust scores, disagreement analyses, and recommendations — are AI-generated and must be reviewed by a qualified human before being relied upon for any decision. CrossCheck AI is classified as a limited-risk AI system under the EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689).
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. User Accounts
4.1. Account creation
To access the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for providing accurate information and keeping it up to date.
4.2. Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. The Service supports optional Two-Factor Authentication (TOTP) — we strongly recommend enabling it. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you become aware of unauthorized access to your account.
4.3. Account deletion
You may request account deletion at any time by contacting [email protected]. Upon deletion, your data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy §8 (Data Retention): account data and associated session data deleted within 30 calendar days of the request, with possible residual retention in security logs (up to 90 days) and database backups (up to 7 additional days).
4.4. Data export
You may request an export of your personal data at any time (GDPR Art. 20). Contact [email protected]. Data is provided in machine-readable JSON format within 30 calendar days.
5. Service Modes and Pricing
5.1. Beta period
During the closed beta period, all CrossCheck AI features are available at no platform cost. In Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) mode, you pay only for your own API usage with the AI providers whose keys you use. In Hosted mode (currently available to selected beta administrators only), API costs are absorbed by Platilus during beta.
Pricing tiers will be announced before the Service exits beta. Existing users will receive at least 30 calendar days' notice via email before any pricing changes take effect.
5.2. Future pricing
When pricing is introduced:
- All prices will be quoted in US Dollars (USD)
- Subscription terms (monthly, annual, one-time) will be specified at the time of purchase
- Cancellation, refund, and fair-use policies will be published in an updated version of these Terms with at least 30 calendar days' notice
5.3. Fair use
Even during the free beta period, we reserve the right to throttle or suspend accounts that generate session volumes significantly exceeding typical usage patterns (more than 100x the median usage), after providing 7 calendar days' written notice where commercially reasonable.
6. API Keys (BYOK)
CrossCheck AI supports a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model for accessing third-party AI services:
- Storage: Your API keys are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored in our database. The encryption key is stored separately from the encrypted data. You can view masked versions, update, or delete your keys at any time through Settings. If you delete a key, it is permanently removed from our systems.
- Server-side decryption: We decrypt your keys solely to execute verification requests on your behalf. Keys are never logged in plaintext, displayed in full, or shared with third parties.
- Costs: You are solely responsible for API usage costs incurred with third-party providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft Azure, Mistral, etc.).
- Provider compliance: You must comply with the terms of service of each API provider whose keys you use.
- Supported providers: BYOK mode supports API keys from approved providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft Azure (including Azure-hosted models such as DeepSeek R1), and Mistral. Direct connections to API endpoints in jurisdictions without adequate data protection (including PRC-based endpoints) are not currently supported. See our Privacy Policy §7.2 for the current list of supported providers and prohibited endpoints.
- Sanctions compliance: You represent that you will not use the Service to route API requests to any provider that is subject to sanctions by the United States (OFAC SDN List), European Union (EU Consolidated List), United Kingdom, or other applicable jurisdiction. We reserve the right to disable affected providers without notice.
- Applicable provider policies include: Anthropic Acceptable Use Policy (anthropic.com/legal/aup), OpenAI Usage Policies (openai.com/policies/usage-policies), Google Gemini Terms of Service (ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms), Microsoft Azure Terms (azure.microsoft.com/support/legal), and Mistral Terms of Service (mistral.ai/terms).
- Liability: We are not liable for charges incurred through your API keys, including charges resulting from unauthorized access to your keys.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable laws
- Submit content that is harmful, abusive, threatening, or violates the rights of others
- Use the Service to bypass or circumvent AI safety systems of any provider
- Submit content designed to extract training data from AI models (prompt injection attacks)
- Generate content that violates AI provider acceptable use policies
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code from the Service
- Use automated scraping, bots, or data extraction tools against the Service
- Interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the Service's infrastructure
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service without our written permission
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
- Use the Service to generate, store, or distribute malware or malicious code
- Systematically use the Service as a component in developing, training, or operating any product or service that replicates CrossCheck AI's core verification functionality, without our express written permission. This does not restrict independent evaluation, academic research, or journalism about the Service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms.
7.1. Restricted Content — Special Categories of Personal Data
You may not use the Service to submit, process, or verify content containing:
- Health or medical information (your own or others')
- Biometric data
- Genetic data
- Information revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union membership, or sexual orientation
- Any other special category of personal data as defined by GDPR Article 9
This restriction applies regardless of whether the data is your own or another person's. The Service architecture is not designed for the elevated protections required by GDPR Article 9.
If you submit such content, you do so in violation of these Terms. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for repeated violations. Third-party AI providers receiving your queries may also apply their own enforcement.
For full context on this restriction, see Privacy Policy §3.5.
8. Service Improvement and Data Use
To improve CrossCheck AI, we log session metadata and structured data from verification sessions (token counts, model versions, costs, latency, atomic claims extracted by our verification pipeline). Full details are in our Privacy Policy §6. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:
- Session metadata may be used to improve verification accuracy, develop reliability metrics, and identify common AI error patterns
- This data is never sold to third parties and never shared with AI providers for their model training
- You can opt out of non-essential logging at any time by contacting [email protected]
- Self-service opt-out toggle and full pseudonymization pipeline are planned during the beta period (see Privacy Policy §6 for current state and roadmap)
9. Intellectual Property
9.1. Your content
You retain all rights to the content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant Platilus LLC a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and improving the Service as described in §8 and in the Privacy Policy.
9.2. Our service
The Service, including its underlying software, design, branding, documentation, and trademarks, is owned by Platilus LLC and its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to our intellectual property except as expressly stated.
9.3. AI-generated output
Verification results, trust scores, and analyses generated by the Service incorporate output from third-party AI models. Rights to AI-generated output are governed by the terms of the respective AI provider. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of AI-generated output complies with the licensing terms of the underlying AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft Azure, Mistral).
10. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Platilus LLC is not liable for any decisions, actions, or outcomes based on verification results
- Platilus LLC is not liable for the accuracy, reliability, or availability of third-party AI models used in the verification process
- Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Platilus LLC for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater
- In no event shall Platilus LLC be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.
11. Third-Party Services
CrossCheck AI depends on third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft Azure, Mistral, and others). You acknowledge that:
- We are not responsible for the availability, performance, accuracy, or content of third-party AI services
- Third-party providers may change, deprecate, or discontinue their APIs, models, or services without notice to us
- Service interruptions caused by third-party provider outages are not a breach of these Terms
- You are responsible for compliance with each provider's terms of service when using their services through CrossCheck AI (particularly in BYOK mode where you provide your own keys)
- Third-party providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Platilus LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Content you submit through the Service
- Your misuse of API keys or violation of API provider terms
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Any third-party claim arising from your use of the Service
13. Termination
13.1. By us
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms. For termination without cause, we will provide at least 14 calendar days' notice when commercially reasonable. We may also terminate accounts that have been inactive for 24 or more consecutive months, with 30 calendar days' written notice via email before termination.
13.2. By you
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting [email protected].
13.3. Effect of termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
- Account data and associated session data will be deleted within 30 calendar days of the termination request
- Server logs containing your IP address may be retained for up to 90 days from termination
- Database backups may retain deleted data for up to 7 additional days from termination
- Aggregated, non-identifying analytical data is not subject to deletion under GDPR Recital 26 if it cannot be linked to you
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including §9, §10, §12, §16) shall survive
14. Service Availability
14.1. Beta period
During beta, the Service is provided "as-is" with no uptime guarantees. Features, pricing, and availability may change without notice. Beta access does not guarantee future access to the production service.
14.2. General availability
After leaving beta, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to maintain Service availability. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access, particularly given our dependency on third-party AI APIs.
14.3. Maintenance
We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, updates, or security purposes. When possible, we will provide advance notice of planned maintenance.
15. Force Majeure
Neither party shall be liable for failure or delay in performance due to causes beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to: AI provider outages, API changes, or model deprecation; natural disasters, epidemics, or pandemics; government actions, sanctions, or regulatory changes affecting AI services; internet infrastructure failures, cyberattacks, or telecommunications disruptions; war, terrorism, civil unrest, or labor disputes.
The affected party shall notify the other party promptly and resume performance as soon as reasonably practicable.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
16.1. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Georgia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Nothing in these Terms shall deprive you of the protection afforded by mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement.
16.2. Dispute resolution
For disputes under €5,000, we encourage resolution through informal negotiation. Before initiating legal proceedings, either party shall send a written notice of the dispute and engage in good-faith negotiation for at least 30 calendar days.
16.3. Jurisdiction
Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tbilisi, Georgia.
16.4. Individual resolution
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you and Platilus LLC agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis, not as a class action, mass arbitration, or representative proceeding. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Platilus LLC. Nothing in this clause restricts your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction, including the right to participate in representative actions where available under applicable law.
17. Export Controls
AI services may be subject to export control laws and regulations. You represent that you are not located in, and will not use the Service from, any country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions. You are solely responsible for compliance with applicable export control and sanctions laws.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced with a valid provision that most closely reflects the original intent.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and (where applicable) Data Processing Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Platilus LLC regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications. No waiver of any provision shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
- Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users with at least 30 calendar days' notice
- Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms
